Cesc Fabregas admits Chelsea’s players must take responsibility for the club’s failings in the Premier League this season.

League leaders Leicester City condemned Chelsea to their ninth defeat of the season on Monday Night Football and left the Blues languishing in 16th place in the table, just a point above the relegation zone.

Manager Jose Mourinho said he felt “betrayed” by his players following defeat at the King Power Stadium, but remained unmoved on speculation over his future at the club.

Fabregas – speaking live at Q&A session which took place at Facebook in London – insists the Premier League champions must accept the criticism for under-performing this campaign.

“We will all have to take responsibility. If you are a big player and paid like a big player, you must play like a big player and behave like a big player,” the 28-year-old said.

“I am not saying you can’t have a bad season and bad games. We all have big players and small players, but the attitude must be spot on. We must always be at the top of our games, even when it’s not and not the behaviour that we are seeing right now from every Chelsea player.”
